Compare quotes by the rooms served, matched equipment and complete installation work before comparing the totals. We explain our proposed scope so you can see which routes, electrical work and finish responsibilities it covers. A lower number can describe a different job rather than a saving on the same installation.

## Begin with the comfort problem

If your bedroom stays hot behind a closed door, the proposal should explain how cooling reaches that bedroom. A large hallway head and a dedicated bedroom unit are different approaches. Their capacity labels alone do not show that both solve your problem.

For several rooms, ask how the system behaves when they call together and when only one is occupied. We review shared capacity, minimum output and usual common heating or cooling mode. These details matter beyond the number of heads on the page.

## An illustrative comparison

Imagine two proposals for a finished upstairs bedroom. One assumes a direct exposed route, gravity drainage and an existing suitable electrical supply. The other includes a concealed route, a pump and additional electrical work. This is an illustrative scope comparison, not a completed company job.

The second total may be higher because the work is different. To compare fairly, establish which route you want and which existing conditions have actually been checked. A vague allowance can hide uncertainty in either proposal.

## Read the work around the equipment

Look for exact indoor and outdoor models, their positions and the intended rooms. Review piping, line covers, drainage and access. Ask whether openings, repairs and painting are included or assigned elsewhere.

A new circuit is different from a panel or service upgrade. Permit, inspection and required verification responsibilities also need definition. A statement that equipment is “fully installed” is less useful than knowing what the scope includes at your property.

## Keep conditional money separate

A possible rebate should not obscure the installation price. LADWP’s current ductless program has whole-home and other conditions; a single bedroom is not automatically eligible. ADUs and new construction are excluded from that program.

Manufacturer parts coverage and installer labor terms also need actual documents. We explain our proposed work and its responsibilities before you agree, including any assessment fees or payment schedule. Bring us the unclear items so the decision rests on a defined project.

## Your project questions

### Is the lowest installed price always the best value?

The scope needs to match first. Different routes, electrical assumptions and room coverage can explain a price difference.

### Should both proposals list model numbers?

Exact matched equipment helps you compare capacities, supported combinations and features. A brand name alone is not enough detail.

### Can a higher capacity justify a higher quote?

Only in the context of a suitable design. More nominal capacity does not necessarily improve comfort or correct distribution problems.

## TELL US ABOUT
YOUR SPACE.

A room that runs hot? An ADU taking shape? A system ready for replacement?

Tell us which rooms need a change. We’ll use those details to discuss the next step.
